#software

i’m using Vivaldi as my only browser, desktop and phone. to make macOS usable, i need DockDoor and LinearMouse installed. and on my gaming setup i use runs NixOS. this is my configuration.nix.

i’ve managed to move most of my stuff off of Google services by now. for search i use DuckDuckGo, for mail and calendar i use Mailbox.org. Keep i’ve replaced with physical notebooks and Signal “Note to Self” chat (though i’m looking to code my own replacement someday). for photo and other file cloud storage i use Jotta (though i’m also not 100% happy there). for office apps like Docs and Sheets i still don’t have a go-to replacement, though Jotta and Mailbox both offer similar apps.

#development

i still reluctantly use VSCodium as my code editor, terminal emulator, git ui. it’s nice having everything in one place, it’s not super bespoke in usage, and has a simple to install extension for everything. for added flair i’m using the Vitesse Theme. my current monospace font is Iosevka Extended. 3 extensions i could not live without: CSS Variable Autocomplete, Git Stash and Svelte 3 Snippets.

#music

i love music. i primarily listen to music on Qobuz, because convenience, but I do have a sizable collection of CDs, vinyl and digitally bought MP3s. to rip the CDs and manage MP3s i used to use MusicBee, which is the best iTunes 9 replacement ever, but sadly Windows only. i now use Laser on Linux for ripping. Poweramp is my MP3 player android app of choice for on the go offline music sessions. to track my listening habits I use last.fm, but the Qobuz integration is pretty rocky…

#hardware

at my IKEA BEKANT standing desk i use a single Dell S3222DGM 32-inch 1440p display. my keyboard is a Keychron K8 with aluminium frame and hot-swappable Gateron Red switches. for mouse i switch between a Logitech MX Vertical and a black Magic Trackpad, though i mostly use the trackpad. i sit on a Ergotopia NextBack. for audio i use a DROP Drop + Sennheiser PC38X headset. i spin my vinyl on a Audio Technica AT-LP120-USB.

#gaming

for gaming i have a custom build gaming PC (Ryzen 7 5800X, RTX 5070 Ti, 32GB DDR4-3600) that i’m Ship of Theseus’ing since 2011. i mostly game with a Xbox Wireless Controller on my Sony BRAVIA KD-50X80L and use Logitech K400 Plus for the inevitable GUIs that appear when pc gaming… for fps games i roll my pc to the desk, and use a a Logitech G403 Wireless. for the occasional Nintendo exclusive i have a Switch 2. i also have a PlayStation 2 with a RetroTINK-5X Pro hooked up for some nostalgia.

#on the go

my laptop, that i share with my girlfriend, is a 14” MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro and 16 GB RAM. i’m still rocking a hazel Pixel 8 as my phone. it’s motherboard cracked once, but i got it repaired. on the go i use my Sony WH-1000XM3 over-ear headphones, or Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds for audio. i also like to play on my Steam Deck when not at home.

#fingerboard

i have multiple fingerboard setups, but my main one is a 33,5mm December deck with the “Personal Hell” graphic, 33mm Joycult x Independent trucks and blue classic Blistered wheels.
